The chilling reason why this 1990 NBA card is going viral

An NBA player card from the 1990-1991 season has gone viral for the most disturbing reason.

The NBA Hoops card, which features New York Nicks star Mark Jackson, actually featured much more than just the superstar point guard.

An eagle-eyed Reddit user made the chilling discovery that in the background of the photo on the card, taken in Madison Square Garden, New York, were The Menéndez brothers.

The Menéndez brothers rose to fame after being sentenced to life imprisonment for killing their parents in cold blood.

The crimes occurred on August 20, 1989, in their family mansion in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

The crime was the biggest event of the year in the United States and the case occupied a privileged space in the news for more than a year; even being mentioned in movies like Dumb & Dumber.

Now, the case is once again front of mind for American sport fans, after a Reddit user made the discovery: “I just realized that the Menéndez brothers are at the bottom of this Mark NBA chrome. In addition, the dates completely square and the photo is after the crime (August 20, 1989) and before they were arrested (March 1990). ”

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell confirmed the legitimacy of the finding, revealing the brothers most likely had just murdered their parents when the photo was taken.

Rovell has since revealed the cards are selling for high prices on eBay.

Interestingly, eBay later pulled the listings from their website because they were affiliated with murderers.

Curiously, the brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez were reunited this year, in April, in a jail in a Southern California jail. Previously, they had always been in different prisons.
