Actress Gao Liu's nose 'dies' after 'nightmare' plastic surgery
A Chinese singer and actress has taken to social media to share shocking images of the tip of her nose which she claims has ‘died’ following a ‘nightmare’ plastic surgery.
Rising star Gao Liu, who has appeared in multiple films and TV shows, revealed that she’d gone to ground several months earlier after a “cosmetic surgical incident” left her nose tissue black, flaky and necrotic.

‘Beginning of a nightmare’
Goa told her five million followers on Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo that she decided to go under the knife at a clinic in the southern city of Guangzhou in October 2020 after being introduced to the plastic surgeon by a friend.
Goa explained that she wanted her nose to have a ‘slight trim’ as she thought it would help boost her showbiz career.
“The entire procedure lasted four hours. I thought that in these four hours, I would be made more beautiful,” she told her followers.
“I didn't expect these four hours to be the beginning of a nightmare,” she added.

Necrotic nose
After the procedure, Gao’s nose felt ‘irritated and tingly’ before becoming repeatedly infected.
“The skin on the tip of my nose… became darker and darker, and my nose became necrotic,” she wrote.
She was hospitalised for two months and says she had thoughts of suicide.
Despite being told she would be able to go back to work by December or January, Gao says she has lost 400,000 yuan (AUD$80,600) in potential income.
Due to the extent of the damage to her nose, she says that reconstructive surgery will have to wait at least a year.
According to popular Chinese digital newspaper, The Paper the clinic where Gao had her surgery was hit with five administrative penalties between March and October 2020. The reason behind the penalties is unclear.
The Paper also claims that the Tianhe District Health Bureau, which issued the penalties, has received a number of complaints about the clinic following news of Gao’s horror experience.
An investigation is said to be ongoing.
