Chuck Schumer Accused Of Staging ‘Fake’ Father’s Day Photo Of Himself Grilling

Chuck Schumer didn’t think he would be the one getting cooked after posting a bizarre Father’s Day photo of himself on social media.

On Sunday, the Senate majority leader showed off his supposed culinary skills in a photo on X (formerly Twitter). Unfortunately, Schumer appears to have put cheese on top of seemingly raw burger patties.

“Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!” Schumer initially captioned the now-deleted photo, Fox News reports.

“Father’s Day Heaven!” he added.

Schumer’s critics immediately sharpened their knives, pointing out the obvious food safety hazards of putting cheese on an uncooked burger and accusing the senator of “staging” the photo.

Others dove into identity politics, complaining that Schumer was “NYC clueless about barbecuing” and hadn’t mastered what they described as “basic male tasks” and “standard American life skills.”

But not everyone was unified in condemning Schumer’s grilling skills. One person — who still said they considered the New York Democrat “one of the most evil people in this whole country” — pointed out that the cheese-topped burger on his grill had “clearly” visible grill marks.

HuffPost has reached out to Schumer for comment.

Though Schumer deleted his previous tweet, his other Father’s Day message from Sunday morning is still up on his page.

“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!,” he wrote.
