ITV have announced that Coronation Street will air a week of episodes in the 9pm time slot beginning on May 27.

The ITV soap is continuing its annual tradition of airing a dramatic set of episodes to tie in with the Britain's Got Talent live shows.

Last year's 9pm episodes saw the demise of serial killer Pat Phelan, while the year before focused on Bethany Platt's grooming storyline.

This year should see the Platts and the Connors take centre stage as the fallout from the Underworld roof collapse continues.

Currently, Nick and his brother David are trying to keep the secret of who really stole their grandmother Audrey's £80,000. Recent paparazzi photographs have shown actor Ben Price (Nick) and Jack P Shepherd (David) filming outside a courthouse.

Meanwhile, the Connors have been struggling with Carla's mental health issues, which saw her taken into care on Monday night's (May 13) episode.

There's also the question of who sabotaged the Underworld roof, with Carla, Nick, Peter Barlow, Robert Preston, Gary Windass, and Seb Franklin the six official suspects.

Earlier this week, a Corrie spokesperson revealed that fans will be finding out who the real villain is very soon.

"Following weeks of speculation, we are finally going to learn which local has blood on their hands," the spokesperson told Inside Soap.

"Viewers will learn the truth, although the rest of the Street still has a little way to go before they clock on. It's a story that is going to run and run, and the outcome is not going to be cut and dried."

Coronation Street's 9pm week begins on Monday, May 27.
