Coronation Street has hinted that Tim Metcalfe could grow suspicious over his twisted father Geoff next week.

Viewers have watched in horror over the past few months as Geoff has been abusive towards his wife Yasmeen, as part of a long-running storyline exploring the issue of coercive control in relationships.

New spoilers on Coronation Street's official website have now confirmed that Geoff's behaviour will get even worse next week.

While putting on a magic show for a children's birthday party on the cobbles, Geoff forces a reluctant Yasmeen to be his assistant for the day.

This includes Yasmeen being placed in a small box, even though she's claustrophobic.

When Yasmeen panics, the trick gets messed up – which is sure to bring out the worst in Geoff once again.

Later in the week, Geoff finds Tim comforting Yasmeen at home after another frightening incident.

Geoff insists that this latest drama was just an accident, but does Tim believe him or is he starting to realise something isn't right?

Ian Bartholomew, who plays Geoff, recently called for Coronation Street to explore the mystery of his character's previous wife – Tim's mother. The show has previously dropped hints that they had a difficult marriage, suggesting that Geoff has behaved abusively before.

"We don't know much about Geoff's previous relationship, but I am sure this is not the first time he has behaved like this in a relationship," Ian explained.

"I think because Geoff has kept the details of the relationship with Tim's mother as his own version, it has been airbrushed and is always from Geoff's point of view.

"Tim only knows his mother from Geoff's point of view. There is a whole wealth of stuff to explore."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Organisations including Women's Aid can provide further support and information on coercive control or coercive behaviour.
