Coronation Street's Michelle Connor fights for her chance to be a mum to her son Alex Neeson next week.
Alex, who's now going by the shorter name of Ali, is about to reappear on the cobbles when he's revealed as a new trainee GP for the local medical centre.
Ali, now played by James Burrows, hasn't been seen on the show since the conclusion of Michelle's baby swap storyline ten years ago.
The shock plot, which appeared to have been forgotten over the years, saw Michelle discover that a mix-up at the hospital had led to her bringing up the wrong child – Ryan Connor.
Next week's episodes see Michelle full of enthusiasm as she tells her partner Robert Preston that she plans to start afresh with Ali now that he's back in Weatherfield.
Michelle is pleased to see Ali settling in well when she spots him having a laugh with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) at The Rovers, but she may be in for a nasty surprise with Ali's response when Steve asks her to join them!
Later that day, Michelle gets another harsh wake-up call when she questions Liz McDonald over why she didn't tell her about Ali working at the surgery sooner.
Liz is forced to explain that Ali had asked her not to after their years of estrangement, but she does feel sorry for Michelle and later begs Ali to cut his mum some slack.
It seems that Ali isn't fully comfortable with the idea of Michelle playing mum, as they've never really had a proper relationship, but Michelle soon has high hopes of winning him round with a specially-made vegan curry.
Will Ali decide to give Michelle a chance when he sees the effort that she's going to?
