What the Cosmo beauty team really think about this Bobbi Brown skin tint
If there's one thing the Cosmo beauty team never agree on (other than what the best sweet treat is oh and y2k fash), it's foundations. From 'full coverage or bust' fans to 'I only like to wear concealer' girlies, you couldn't find a more opposing team than ours when it comes to our base products.
It makes for a good, even spread of content across the foundation board and at least our constant disagreements have you covered - pun intended. Despite this, we can always look past personal preference to acknowledge when a product is just really, really great, like in this case.
Bobbi Brown, known for products that enhance your natural beauty rather than covering it up, recently dropped a new skin tint and to say we were intrigued is an understatement. This tint assures natural-looking coverage as well as skin-loving vitamins nourishing on application. Oh and if you're wondering about wear time this promises 12 hours of wear without fading, creasing or settling into fine lines. Plus it's apparently humidity- and sweat-proof. Impressive.
So, with half the team preferring a full coverage foundation and the other always opting for a light base, how would a skincare/makeup hybrid base fair? Well, there was only one way to find out...
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint Review

In my day-to-day life, I normally go big or go home with bases. I'm either just swiping on some concealer for my dark circles or I'm beating my face with at least a medium-coverage foundation and powdering to high heavens to set everything in place. A skin tint is not normally my vibe. But I think I could be a convert.
Firstly it feels so nice to apply. If you've ever used the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, you'll be familiar with the scent; so fresh and cucumbery. A delight. Secondly, it applies well. I opted for a duo-fibre brush but also used my fingers around my hairline and nose to blend in and it just feels like skincare, melting into my skin. The glow was real and you could barely tell that the last of the summer wine the weekend before had left my skin feeling like sandpaper. While I don't think this is one to turn to for coverage, it's not meant to be your go-to for that, if you want a naturally-looking summer glow as we move into the depths of A/W, you need to add to basket.

Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation is my favourite base of all time, so it’s safe to say that I love full coverage. I was initially surprised at the coverage this skin tint provided when I tested it on the back of my hand and loved how blendable it was when I applied it with my fingers. Did it totally cover up my post-acne pigmentation? No, but that would probably defeat the point of a lightweight skin tint if it did.
It gave my skin a healthy glow that made it look more even and almost pore-less, without it being too dewy that I needed to add powder afterwards. If you’re a ‘no makeup makeup’ gal, this will be right up your street. I was colour-matched as Fair 3 – which may have been too tanned in hindsight – but I’ll be keeping this in my makeup bag for when I next go on holiday and *hopefully* get a tan.

I often skip foundation, opting for bare skin and concealer, so I’m always interested to hear about a tint; something that might give me that little bit of evening out without serious coverage. When I first swatched this tint it looked more foundation-like, so I applied a considerable squirt from the back of my hand with a stippling brush and it looked glowy, even, skin-like. But a few hours later it had separated a little on the skin, the colour was slightly inconsistent and had gathered in some patches.
Rather than write it off, I went back in for round two and I used it as I would a thinner formula or a moisturiser, a smaller amount and good old fingertips massaging it into the skin. It was so much better and didn’t lead to any of the issues mentioned above. It took a little working in to make sure the colour was even, but it corrected any sallow or redness on the skin. While it didn’t knock my socks off, it’s a handy little quick foundation alternative to give your complexion an easy boost.

Firstly, I would like to say: you’re welcome. And that is because this launch came at the perfect time for me to review. Mid-breakout. How many of my blemishes and how much of my discolouration can the watery, thin formula cover? Bonjour Mother Nature and post-festival szn skin… Alas, being a skin tint and having ‘light-to-medium’ coverage, as Bobbi Brown states, my expectations were met. Aka, your natural complexion peeks through beneath the veil of tint while still evening out tone.
Admittedly, as a full-coverage oily gal, this wouldn’t be my go-to, however, it’s one I would definitely recommend to a friend who is after a dewy no-makeup makeup, low-maintenance look. Think: perfect for those WFH Zoom calls when you need to look ~somewhat~ presentable and alive. On the perks front, what I did love was how easily the formula glided and blended onto the skin.
Initially, I used a stippling brush to apply but swiftly switched to my hands; the warmth of my fingertips made for a vitamin-enriched melted wonder. In the best way possible, that is. All-in-all, despite not being the target consumer for this hydrating tint – after hours of wear (and tear), it did separate a little thanks to my excess sebum production… but if you have dry skin you'll be fine. It does what it says on the tin. Or rather, tube!
P.S. It has an aloe-fresh, cucumber-like skincare scent, making for the perfect morning pick-me-up.
