Craig David has discussed his sexuality and revealed that he likes to "leave it very open".

The '7 Days' singer noted that he does not like to put labels on anything in a new interview, and also said he wanted to start a family at some point in the future.

"I leave it very open because at the end of the day it's one of those things where I shouldn't have to reinforce and state, 'No, I'm a heterosexual' – because that's all nonsense," he told The Sun's Bizarre Life podcast.

"I think it's very evident in the way my songs are and how I speak about relationships so I wouldn't even go into it. It's like, if that's what you feel, it's what you feel."

He added: "The only person that it really matters is the relationship that I'm in and I know."

However, Craig suggested that the conversation around sexuality had changed in 2017, praising the internet for giving a voice to those who were previously voiceless.

"I feel in the sense that if you're heterosexual, if you're bisexual, if you're gay, if you're a lesbian, if you're transgender, whatever the vibe is, that's what you represent," the star continued.

"I've always found it quite strange that we always like to try and define people and say this is how it is and this is how it should be.

"That's one of the things that the internet and social media have really opened up and allowed. People have got a voice now. We've got to stop the nonsense now and open it up."

Starting a family seems to be the next goal for Craig, who explained: "It would be amazing to share my journey with somebody and that's the big difference.

"I'd love to have kids. I think I'd be a very good dad and I think I'd have a lot of wisdom to share. But even with age you'll just know, you'll just be with someone and you won't think about it. You'll just be like, 'I wanna have children with you and this just feels right'."

Last month, the singer announced his new album The Time Is Now (out January 26, 2018) and single 'Heartline', which you can listen to below:
