CT Tamburello, Cara Maria Sorbello and More Vets Return for 'The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion'
Season 39 of the 'The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion' premieres Oct. 25 on MTV and will see contestants seeking their first 'Challenge' win go up against vets of the show
The Challenge: USA season 2 may still be underway, but fans of the competition can already look forward to The Challenge season 39.
On Tuesday, MTV declared "a new era" of The Challenge kicking off with its next season, Battle for a New Champion, premiering Oct. 25.
The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion, hosted by TJ Lavin, will feature 24 competitors seeking their first Challenge victory. They’ll have to face not only each other, but a rotating lineup of Challenge vets in surprise eliminations in order to snag their first title.
The lineup of Challenge vets appearing on Battle for a New Champion includes Brad Fiorenza, Cara Maria Sorbello, Laurel Stucky, CT Tamburello and Darrell Taylor.
Fiorenza, 42, returns to the MTV competition show for the first time since 2018’s Final Reckoning, though he appeared on All Stars 2 and All Stars 3 on Paramount+. Sorbello’s appearance marks the 37-year-old first since 2019’s War of the Worlds 2.
A series of 2021 Instagram posts featuring a page from her diary and her horse Garnett made fans think Sorbello decided to retire from The Challenge, but she clarified to E! News that she didn’t plan to stop competing on the show.

"In short: I am not retiring," she said. "The post was sparked from visiting home and reading old diaries from the beginning of my Challenge journey. I was reminiscing and my heart was heavy over the loss of my Garnett. She was a huge part of keeping my spirit alive during my Challenge career on and off the field."
