Cyclist found 'seriously injured' lying in road

A cyclist has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after being found lying in a road.

Officers from Essex Police were called to Lambourne Hall Road in Canewdon, near Southend, at about 09:30 BST.

It is believed he fell from his bicycle.

The force has appealed for anyone who saw what happened, especially the driver of a dark coloured Peugeot 208 and a learner driver who may have witnessed the crash, to get in touch.
