Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy addressed his May arrest on Tuesday for the first time since charges were dismissed last month.

While no charges eventually came after the alleged incident with his girlfriend, Jeudy was apologetic for the situation and thankful that it is behind him.

“Everything turned out good,” Jeudy said, via The Denver Post. “Of course, that’s something where I didn’t want to put myself or the team in a position like that. I’m glad everything was handled how it needed to be.”

Jeudy was arrested in Colorado on May 12 on a second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence encounter charge, and spent a night in jail. Police said Jeudy’s girlfriend, who is also the mother of his infant child, called 911 after he allegedly locked vital baby-related items in his car and didn’t let her get them. She said he did this because she had taken one of his three phones.

Jeudy later admitted to taking his girlfriend’s wallet, items for the baby and baby formula. The alleged incident dealt with only property, and the Bronco wasn't accused of physical violence.

Jeudy spent a night in jail due to Colorado law, and Jeudy’s girlfriend later asked that the charges be dropped and said she called police only to “monitor” the situation. A judge dismissed the charges on May 31.

“[I] just know how to handle the situation from now on,” Jeudy said, via The Denver Post. “I learned from it. Now, I’m just ready to move forward.”

Jeudy, 23, is set to enter his third season with the Broncos this fall after the team took him with the No. 15 overall draft pick in 2020. He had 467 receiving yards and didn’t score last season. He dealt with an ankle sprain after Week 1 throughout the year and appeared in 10 games.

“I can’t wait to touch that [end zone] paint,” he said, via The Denver Post. “That’s my first [season] ever playing the game of football and not being able to score a touchdown. I know this year, when I get into that end zone, y’all are going to feel me.”
