Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Princess Beatrice married her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi ("Edo" to his friends) on Friday, July 17 in a private family ceremony. The two have known each other for years, but began a relationship roughly a year ago.

Their wedding was initially scheduled for May 29 at St. James's Palace in London, but was postponed last spring because of the coronavirus pandemic. The palace shared two official photos of the couple on their wedding on Saturday, 18 July.

According to the Palace, Mozzi proposed to the princess in Italy earlier in September 2019, with a ring he helped design with British jeweller Shaun Leane.

"Yes, it was Edoardo and I collaborating in the design," Leane told T&C. "I believe bespoke should be a fusion of the designer and the emotions, memories and details of the collector."

During the ceremony on Friday at Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, Beatrice added a wedding ring, also designed by Leane.

The groom's ring was a vintage gold band designed by Josh Collins, Buckingham Palace said in a statement. Royal wedding rings are traditionally made from Welsh gold; there's no confirmation at this time if that was the case for Beatrice and Edo.

In the first image shared by the palace, Beatrice and Edoardo can be smiling as they emerge from the chapel's entrance, which is adorned with pink and white flowers. In the second picture, the couple are outside the entrance with the Queen, Beatrice's grandmother, and Prince Philip.

Beatrice's parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, did not feature in either of the released images. However, the palace confirmed her father walked her down the aisle.

It is believed to be the first time the Queen and Prince Philip have attended a family gathering since lockdown began.

The palace also announced that the royal bride's wedding dress was a vintage gown loaned by the Queen. The dress was designed by Norman Hartnell, who also created the Queen's wedding dress and coronation gown.

The royal bride accessorised with the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara also belonging to the Queen, which Her Majesty wore on her wedding day in 1947.
