Happy news time! Princess Eugenie has announced that she and husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child together (they told the world via an announcement on the official The Royal Family Instagram account). But now, we're speculating as to whether or not Eugenie actually hinted about her pregnancy a few days ago... when she was swooning over some other babies. Furry ones, to be exact.

Stick with us, we'll explain. Taking to her Instagram Stories on 21 September, Eugenie posted several snaps of some uber-cute koalas who live over in Australia, at Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park. "These two little baby koalas are living safely at @featherdalewildlifepark in a wonderful habitat after the devastating bushfires earlier this year and we are honoured that they have been named after Jack and I."

The Princess added that she is "so proud to be a part of rebuilding and supporting these sanctuaries", alongside a further close-up of the Eugenie koala giving the camera a cheeky wink. Now, we know it sounds far-fetched, but could all that animal-fussing have been an indicator that she's feeling extra maternal right now and had some exciting news of her own?

Eugenie also confirmed the joyful news on her own Instagram account (@PrincessEugenie) that her little one is due sometime in "early 2021", with a sweet announcement featuring a pair of adorable baby slippers. Our hearts! Can't cope.

Adding to the merriment, Eugenie's mum (Prince Andrew's ex wife), Sarah Ferguson, told the Daily Mail's royal correspondent Rebecca English, "I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child. Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother."

She continued on to say, "Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy." Eugenie's sister, Beatrice, has yet to publicly comment on the news (she doesn't go in for social media) but we're sure behind the scenes that she's utterly delighted at the prospect of becoming an aunt.

In terms of her due date, it's likely Eugenie and Jack will have waited until the 12 week mark before sharing their news, meaning their wee one is probably to arrive in February or March.

Congratulations to Eugenie and Jack!
