Driver denies dangerous driving after Ecuador politician's daughter killed

A man has denied causing the death by dangerous driving of an Ecuadorian politician's 27-year-old daughter in south-west London.

Vanessa Sagnay de la Bastida, known as Charlotte, died following a collision on Bridgend Road, in Wandsworth, on 16 March, 2022.

Octavian Cadar, 38, pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, saying: "Guilty to careless driving."

At the Old Bailey, Judge Anthony Leonard set a trial date for 29 July.

Members of the psychology graduate's family and her fiance, Michael Williams, who witnessed the fatal incident, sat in court for the plea hearing.

Mr Cadar, of Clydesdale Way, Belvedere, Bexley, south-east London, remains on unconditional bail.
