Dua Lipa Just Made a Convincing Case for the Return of Everyone's Least Favorite Jewelry Trend
For those of us who have felt personally victimized by statement necklaces.
Love it or hate it, statement necklaces are somehow on their way back in (gasp!). And while some of us may still be busy healing from the psychological and emotional damage inflicted upon us by Charming Charlie in the 2010s, Dua Lipa just served a masterclass on how to make the head-turning statement pieces work for today — and dare we say it looks … cool?
On Wednesday, the singer shared yet another Instagram photo dump from her multi-week vacation abroad detailing the outfit she wore when blowing out her 28th birthday candles earlier this week. In the carousel, the singer was sure to give followers a look at her red-hot birthday look, which included a plunging red button-up minidress complete with billowy long sleeves and a collared neckline. But while the outfit was certainly notable on its own, it was Dua’s choice in accessories (see: stacks of chunky gold Chanel chokers and necklaces left to lay on her bare chest) that really stole the show.
Knowing that her jewelry deserved its own moment, the A-lister also included a close-up snap of her Chanel-branded choker, peal-embellished bolo tie, and oversized perfume pendant in the post’s third slide. Dramatic gold Chanel hoops and an assortment of rings rounded out Dua’s ‘fit, and she wore her brunette hair down in soft waves with a middle part.
“Makin’ a big ass wish 🎂,” she captioned the post.

In addition to ringing in her big day with a neck full of Chanel, the singer also sported a tiny mesh Gucci bra and a bright turquoise Muppet dress to celebrate her birthday (yes, you read that right).
Hours after detailing the red dress, Lipa shared a separate dump that saw her dancing in the moonlight in a backless, fringe-covered halter gown. Dua kept her accessories to a minimum when styling her second look of the night, and she opted to keep her signature soft waves and natural glam.
