EastEnders' Phil confesses all over Jay's dad tonight
EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell has a lot of explaining to do tonight (August 21) as Jay Brown demands answers over the death of his father.
Phil (Steve McFadden) shared a life-changing revelation with Jay in the closing moments of Friday night's episode, confessing that he killed Jay's dad at the car lot many years ago.
The big cliffhanger caused some confusion among fans since Jay's dad was always thought to be Jase Dyer, who was killed by gang leader Terry Bates in 2008.
As we revealed on Friday though, Phil must actually be referring to the homeless guy who died at the car lot way back in 1994.
Phil teamed up with Frank Butcher and set fire to the car lot in an insurance scam in March of that year, accidentally killing a vagrant when the flames got badly out of control.
Tonight's EastEnders episode is a special two-hander edition focusing only on Phil and Jay in the aftermath of the big confession.
As these pictures show, the action picks up directly from Friday's cliffhanger with the pair still at The Arches, before Phil follows Jay home for another showdown.
A furious Jay will surely have a lot of questions for Phil and be left questioning everything he ever knew about his past, but does Phil's revelation mean that Jase wasn't Jay's dad at all? If so, why has Phil kept it quiet for so long? And can Jay ever forgive him?
Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay, recently commented: "There's something in [the episode] that I think is going to leave viewers saying 'whoa'. I think they'll be very shocked. It's classic EastEnders."
EastEnders airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
