EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has teased a "catastrophic" Christmas for the Branning family this year as all of Max's secrets are exposed.

Jake Wood has already promised the best Christmas episodes in 10 years, as his bad boy character takes centre stage in the dramatic episodes.

And it seems that Jacqueline – who plays Max's daughter Lauren – agrees, hinting that it'll be the family's "worst yet".

"It doesn't disappoint," she said to the Radio Times. "In fact, it's catastrophic, the worst one yet. We don't even get to sit down for Christmas dinner this year! The episodes are wicked."

Max has recently gone public with his shocking scheme for revenge against Albert Square, but even now, his loved ones still only know half the story.

Thankfully, Jane Beale helpfully left a desperate voicemail message on Stacey Fowler's phone in her final episode in October, which revealed everything about Max – including how he was responsible for Steven's death.

Viewers will have to wait and see how the scenes unfold, but the incriminating message looks set to play a major role in the hour-long festive special after Stacey is finally reunited with her phone.

EastEnders airs an hour-long episode on Christmas Day at 9pm on BBC One.
