Was Elle Macpherson ever actually married to Jeff Soffer?

Reports emerged back in June that Elle Macpherson had split from her billionaire hubby Jeff Soffer, but now claims have surfaced that the couple were never legally married.

The couple were allegedly wed in 2013 in an intimate ceremony in Fiji, but Page Six is quoting an insider as saying the marriage may have not actually been legal.

The publication claims there are no records of their divorce in Florida, where the former couple resided.

Records do exist in Florida, however, for the billionaire’s divorce from previous wife Kimberley Faze.

While the Fiji Tourism website states wedding ceremonies in the country “are recognised as legal worldwide", the Fiji embassy in Washington DC says “overseas visitors intending to get married in Fiji are required by law to obtain and sign a marriage license of their choice from the nearest marriage registry prior to the marriage ceremony", according to Page Six.

Elle and Jeff eloped to Fiji in 2013, marrying in an "intimate ceremony" surrounded only by a few family members and close friends.

Since they eloped maybe they never obtained this “marriage license” required before the ceremony.

Neither Jeff nor the Aussie model have publically spoken about their split so questions remain whether the two were legally married or not.
