Emhoff Admits Affair With Babysitter Cost Him First Marriage
Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband Doug Emhoff has admitted that he had an affair during his marriage to his first wife Kerstin.
“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side,” Emhoff said in a statement provided exclusively to CNN.
It came after the Daily Mail reported that Emhoff had a relationship with one of his daughter, Ella’s teachers, which resulted in the end of his marriage.
Emhoff said he told Harris about the affair before they married.
The Second Gentleman’s statement to CNN raised more questions than answers. He didn’t acknowledge whether the relationship produced a child, as the Daily Mail reported. Among the questions raised is whether Emhoff has provided financially for the child and whether there was a nondisclosure agreement with the woman.
