Who Is Eric Church's Wife? All About Katherine Church
Eric Church and Katherine Church have been married since 2008 and have two children together
Eric Church’s brand of chart-topping country music draws heavily on the experience of being in love— but he keeps his romance with his muse, wife Katherine Church (née Blasingame), private.
While Eric is open about his creative songwriting process, the singer and his wife prefer to keep their marriage and life at home in Tennessee out of the spotlight.
"I've never been on social media," Eric said on an episode of Audacy’s Rob + Holly podcast. "I've never tweeted. I don't know how to tweet. I don't get on Instagram." Despite his desire to stay private, the pair have publicly talked about their philanthropy, their local Nashville community and Eric's intense touring schedule.
Eric and Katherine have been married since 2008 and are parents to two sons: Boone McCoy and Tennessee "Hawk" Hawkins.
So, who is Eric Church’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Katherine Church and her romance with the country star.
She worked in the music industry before meeting Eric
Katherine's experience in the music industry predates her relationship with Eric. They met because Katherine was a music publisher and wanted to set Eric up to write with one of her songwriters.
Her knowledge of the music industry has strengthened their unique bond. "It's great now, because being a publisher and being somebody in the industry, I can bounce songs off of her and she has the knowledge, you know, to be kind of that sounding board," he told Taste of Country in 2012.
She’s been married to Eric since 2008
Eric and Katherine were married in a private, family-only ceremony on Jan. 8, 2008, at the Westglow Spa & Resort in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
“Katherine and I stayed there last year, and we just fell in love with the place,” Eric told CMT at the time. "We decided that it would be the ideal spot to get married, up in the North Carolina mountains, with just family around us. I can't imagine a more perfect spot."
Eric also wrote the song “You Make it Look So Easy” for the occasion.
She has two children with Eric
Katherine and Eric are parents of two. The couple welcomed their first son, Boone McCoy, on Oct. 3, 2011, and their second son, Tennessee “Hawk” Hawkins, on Feb. 15, 2015.
“Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is. Words can never do the feeling justice,” Eric told PEOPLE after the arrival of his first son. “I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama."
After the birth of his second son, Eric released a statement on Facebook. “I’m thrilled that Hawk and his mom are doing well,” he wrote. “We aren’t sleeping very much, but we are enjoying every part of this incredible journey. I’m very blessed and thankful.”
The family currently lives in Nashville, where her husband has been known to spontaneously play at local bars. He surprised partygoers at the opening of Justin Timberlake’s The Twelve Thirty Club in 2021, taking the stage with Morgan Wallen to play a mix of cover songs and original hits before announcing, "I'm going home after this one," as the party raged on into the early morning hours.
She and their kids have joined Eric on tour
Over the years, Eric's family joined him on tour, with the singer telling PEOPLE his kids "grew up on the tour bus."
In July 2023, Eric, Katherine and their children got the opportunity to relive his career while visiting the “Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul” exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
“Both of my kids, from 2 and 3 months old, they grew up on the tour bus, and when you’re in the tornado and you’re going through it, you forget all these things that happen," the singer told guests at a reception to celebrate the opening. "When they’re 1 or 2 or 3, and they just don’t remember that — that was my favorite part of this entire exhibit, experiencing it again with them.”
She has a nonprofit with Eric
Katherine and Eric launched The Chief Cares Fund in 2013. The donations they raise from selling platinum seats to Eric's concerts have been used domestically to support underprivileged families in Tenessee and North Carolina and internationally to assist an orphanage in Nepal and provide aid in Haiti.
In 2016, the couple donated $1 million toward diabetes research in honor of Eric's parents.
She’s supported Eric through health struggles
When Eric underwent emergency surgery in the summer of 2017 due to a life-threatening blood clot, Katherine was first on his mind.
“I was thinking about my family and kids, and how I wanted to make it back home,” he told Rolling Stone. Eric was on vacation at the couple’s North Carolina summer home while Katherine was in Nashville.
“I said, ‘Can it kill me?’ And he said, ‘Today,’ ” Eric recalled the doctor saying. “And I said, ‘I need to make a phone call.’ ”
She’s a big fan of Eric's music
Because of Katherine's history as a music publisher, she’s quick to offer her advice to Eric when it comes to his music. But her favorite song of Eric's has never been released. Her husband often plays a tune called “Old Friends, Old Whiskey, Old Songs,” during his live shows but has so far refused to record it — much to Katherine's annoyance.
“If my wife was here right now we’d have a whole different conversation because that’s one of her favorites and we’ve had many arguments about that song,” Eric told a fan during an iHeartCountry listening party in 2021. “She beats on me every day that if I don’t record that we might not be married forever.”
