The 2017 adaptation of IT was a smash summer hit that delivered laughter and horror in almost equal measures, and now that the movie is out on DVD and Blu-Ray, it's time to start looking through the deleted footage and behind-the-scenes featurettes that any fan will appreciate.

There are already a few of the deleted scenes from the DVD floating around online, as an extended look at the madness of Henry Bowers was made available, but there's one scene that the crew filmed without ever intending to use – because it's hilarious, and it rewrites the entire premise of the film.

The "deleted scene" is in fact a re-shooting of the movie's iconic opening sequence, in which Pennywise lures poor Georgie into his sewer with a paper boat and [spoiler alert] brutally rips his arm off and devours him, which sets the plot of the movie into motion.

The scene is horrifying and scary in the theatrical version, but we now know that there was a second version filmed in which things... don't quite go the same way.

Which part is funnier? Little Georgie running off with a "Thanks, see you later!" when everyone expected him to get torn to pieces? Or the look on Pennywise's face when we see an ultimate fear-god-turned-clown literally say "ah, shit" when he misses out on his kill?

Either way, it's nice to know that the people behind such a terrifying movie have a good sense of humour about their work!
