Fans Think This Taylor Swift Cover Is a Jab at Scooter Braun

On Sunday night, Taylor Swift tweeted about how excited she was to hear a cover of her song "Look What You Made Me Do" from a band called Jack Leopards & the Dolphin Club, going so far as to say that she was "VERY STOKED" (all caps and everything) about it, but according to E! News, fans were left scratching their heads. But as the puzzle pieces came together, people theorized that the track was a way for Swift to release a song without Scooter Braun, who she's been clashing with over her back catalog, earning a single cent.

Jack Leopards & the Dolphin Club doesn't actually exist and when fans and internet detectives dove deeper into the track, they found out that it was credited to Jack Antonoff, Richard Fairbrass, Fred Fairbrass, and Rob Manzoli along with Swift, which happens to be the exactly the same lineup as the original. Nils Sjöberg is listed as the producer — and die-hard Swift fans know that specific name is one of Swift's pseudonyms. She used it as on the song "This Is What You Came For," which she worked on with ex Calvin Harris.

And then, fans heard the song. According to the Daily Mail, fans believe that the track's vocalist is Swift's brother, Austin. The newspaper reported that earlier this year, Swift asked Phoebe Waller-Bridge if her brother could feature on the show's soundtrack. Then, the New York Post reported that Austin used the name "The Dolphin Club" as a twitter handle.

"Taylor made up a whole band called 'Jack Leopards and The Dolphin club' consisting of herself, Austin Swift and Jack Antonoff to cover 'LWYMMD,' which is sung by Austin, partly produced by Taylor herself to not let Scooter gain a single cent from the it? TAYLOR SWIFT IS A GENIUS," a follower tweeted, E! reports.

"So you're telling me that Taylor Swift produced a new 'LWYMMD' cover under non-existent bands called 'Jack Leopards' and 'The Dolphin Club' so Scooter wouldn't get any coins from her art??" wrote another. "DO NOT MESS WITH THIS WOMAN. I REPEAT. DO NOT MESS WITH THIS WOMAN. HER MIND [IS FIRE]."

After Swift stated that she was "sad and grossed out" over the fact that Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings LLC, acquired her former record label, Big Machine Label Group, back in June, she proposed that she would re-record all of her past releases. Though this isn't exactly that, it is a way for her to release something without the shadow of Braun looming over it.
