The fate of season 2 of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Station 19 has officially been revealed – and it's good news.

As fans of the ABC will no doubt be very happy to learn, the series has now officially been picked up for a full second season.

Per TV Line, the alphabet network has ordered a full season of the drama, which means fans will be getting even more from the heroic firefighters of the Seattle Fire Department.

Season 2 was originally only going to run for 13 episodes, but the exciting news means that will now be extended to a 22 episode run.

The big announcement comes amid some impressive viewing figures for the Grey's Anatomy spin-off. Last week's episode brought in 6.5 million total viewers, which was a pretty impressive rise in viewers from the season premiere on October 4.

The pickup news means we'll now get to see more from Code Black and The Last Man on Earth star Boris Kodjoe, who joined the show this series as a seasoned firefighter with a very mysterious past.

As teased by The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, "His character returns to the Seattle Fire Department after some time away and brings with him new skills, new perspectives and an approach to the job that doesn't always fall in line with the members of Station 19." Interesting.

Station 19 season 2 airs on ABC on Thursday nights.
