A Texas dad is accused by police of setting fire to his own house while his three children were still inside.

Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, 46, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and arson in connection with the Nov. 6 fire at his home in the Polo Ranch community in Fulshear, about 35 miles west of downtown Houston.

In a Dec. 12 statement posted on Facebook, Fulshear police accuse Parra Pulgar of "intentionally setting the blaze" at his house while his three children were still inside.

Two of the children, both aged 15 according to court records, managed to escape the inferno with minor injuries, but his youngest child, a 3-year-old toddler, remained trapped inside.

Police entered the home through the bedroom window and retrieved the child, who was suffering from "severe smoke inhalation."
