Festive Aldi item that shoppers are raving about: 'Absolutely love mine'
A professional Christmas Tree stylist tells Yahoo Lifestyle which tree is best for your budget in 2024.
There are only five weeks until Christmas and, as the shops get their decorations out and the party season starts, it’s officially time to think about Christmas trees. If yours is looking a bit tired and the dog chewed the lights off it last year then do not fear.
While some people love the smell of a fresh tree, others are not a fan of the hefty price tag and the idea of having a floor covered in dropped pine needles. If that's you, there are heaps of affordable artificial beauties on the market right now, and with social media feeds full of people’s already decorated trees, you can even see how they’ll look once they’re up.
Even better yet, these festive trees are seriously stylish too, with a Christmas Tree Stylist telling Yahoo Lifestyle that a couple of the options are "very on-trend."
However, there is one tree that stood out as being the best value in our expert's eyes, so read on to find out which one!

Kmart offering a Christmas tree forest
Kmart’s Flocked Slim Prelit Christmas Tree is getting a lot of love online right now and at only $49 people are buying multiples for that extra Christmas look.
After buying one of these trees one woman commented online: “I went back and bought another 2. My hubby made steps for 2 trees so they’re different heights.”
“I love how you put three together! It actually looks so much better with three rather than just one skinny tree - like a little forest,” another woman commented on her photo.
Renee Speranza is a Christmas Tree Stylist at Blitz My Tree in Sydney and she told Yahoo Lifestyle that Kmart is on trend with this frosted tree look.
“In Australia people have been reluctant to do a frosted tree as it doesn’t snow here, but it’s becoming more popular as people want softer tones. They want crystal and champagne colours and so are leaning towards this frosted look,” she said.
Kmart’s Pre Lit 2.4m Cashmere Christmas Tree is also super popular. Costing $149 customers are happy with its easy assembly and the traditional look.
“Lights are key to any Christmas tree and pre-lit trees that save you time and energy installing lights are a game-changer,” Renee said. “The more lights the better - the more opulent it looks.”
Aussies commenting on a photo of the Kmart pre-lit tree agreed.
“I have had an expensive pre-lit tree for a few years now and I always add extra lights to it and I like a lot of twinkling lights on my tree,” said one.
“You can never have too many,” said another.
Aldi brings affordable trees that stand the test of time
Aldi always delivers on affordability and value and its Christmas Tree range is no different.
This year the sell-out Luxury pre-lit Christmas tree, standing 213cm tall, will return to stores for just $149.
And if you can get your hands on one, the lucky shoppers who have, say you won’t regret it.
“I absolutely love mine. Best tree we've ever had,” one raved.
“Very pleased with the lights on this tree - can set it to colour or just plain with different modes of flashing. Certainly terrific value for the price too,” another added.
As it turns out, the Aldi option is a winner in Renee's eyes, with the stylist declaring it to be amazing value for money.
"We do our demos on the Aldi trees at home and they've lasted for a long time," Renee said. "We've had the one we use since 2021 and it's stood up to the test of time pretty well. We prep on it every day almost, so it would be getting much more heavy duty use than it would be in the average home.
"Of the affordable trees that I have experience with I'd say it would be the best value for money."
The tree is also a hit with content creators Two Broke Chicks who regularly share their tips for how to live luxuriously on a budget with their 300+ followers, so you know it's gotta be good!
Bunnings' pink tree sparks Christmas joy
One new Christmas Tree trend is the pink tree and a photo of a decorated Bunnings pre-lit pink tree on Facebook has sparked some real Christmas joy.
“OMG … how bloody beautiful 100/100,” read one comment.
“This needs to be in a magazine,” said another.
“Pink has become really popular and we’re doing another one tomorrow,” Renee says. “Pink trees or wanting to add pink to your tree is very on trend.”
Reject Shop trees exemplify pastel trend
Who knew you could make a blue Christmas Tree look this good? And for $39 why wouldn’t you try?
The Reject Shop has this 180cm tree in pastel blue and there have been lots of Christmas cheers online for one particular stylist’s work on it.
“It’s like it’s out of a Hallmark Xmas movie,” read one comment on her Facebook post.
“Love this!!! Such a beautiful and budget-friendly Christmas setup!” said another.
How to choose the best tree for you?
With so many Christmas Trees out there Renee’s best advice when choosing one is to first decide on how you want to decorate it.
“Not all styles work well with certain trees,” she explains. “If you want finials and crystal drops, for example a thick, dense tree won’t work.”
And while some of Renee’s clients use pricey trees she doesn’t mind where they come from.
“You don’t need an expensive tree to have a stylist. We’ve styled trees from Target and Kmart,” Renee says.
“We can achieve a look using a tree that’s in your price bracket.”
This year's top tree styling trends
Renee's top trends for 2024 are neutral, earthy tones like bronze and she said the traditional look is always in style.
“It’s more burgundy and deep green rather than red and green this year,” she says. “Pastels have been in for a while and the candy and peppermint-theme is popular now too.”
Something very new which she says might appeal to people with limited space is the upside-down tree.
“This is very popular and very American. It won’t appeal to anyone who wants a star at the top of their tree but we’ve had so many comments on our Instagram saying how incredible this tree looks,” she says.

And then, she adds there’s always the old favourites like The Grinch theme. Looking online there’s no shortage of inspiration.
“OMG... a train around the tree? Next level,” read the comments on one popular Grinch-styled tree.
“Wow!! This is fabulous!!” said another.
