Two fishermen have been rescued from a life raft after their vessel caught fire off the West Australian coast.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority detected a distress beacon for fishing vessel Conquistador just before 2.30am on Monday.
Less than three hours later, AMSA's Challenger jet found a life raft from the Conquistador about 40km west of Lake Macleod, north of Carnarvon, and both men were brought onboard bulk carrier Ikan Senyur for a medical assessment.
AMSA search and rescue manager Alan Lloyd said the men were lucky to be alive and he thanked the Ikan Senyur crew for responding to AMSA's request for help.
"Every minute counts in search and rescue, and often the best-placed people to respond to a distress situation are those nearby," he said.
