The fact that both shows had episodes filmed prior to the start of the broadcast season was a boon for NBC, allowing it to air new scripted series as many of its rivals pivoted to reality series and licensed programming as a result of the dual strikes.
The Irrational has aired seven episodes of its first season and has four more to go starting on Monday January 29 at 10pm. It is currently back in production on those episodes.
Found has currently aired nine episodes with two more to air before the end of the year. It will return on January 9 for its final two episodes of the season and has already finished production on those.
Both series have performed well for NBC as well as Peacock; Found became NBC’s top launch on the streamer to date with its premiere episodes drawing 10.5M viewers across platforms in its first week, while The Irrational’s premiere tallied 12.1M viewers across all NBCU platforms in its first 15 days.
Found follows public relations specialist Gabi Mosely, played by Shanola Hampton, who was once herself one of the more than 300,000 missing people of color in the U,S, and her crisis management team, who now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone, this everyday hero is hiding a chilling secret of her own.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta and Karan Oberoi also star.
It comes from showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll, who exec produces alongside Sonay Hoffman, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Lindsay Dunn. Berlanti Productions and Rock My Soul Productions produces in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
The Irrational follows world-renowned professor of behavioral science Alec Mercer, played by Jesse L. Martin, as he lends his unique expertise on an array of high-stakes cases involving governments, law enforcement and corporations. His insight and unconventional approach to understanding human behavior lead him and the team on a series of intense, unexpected journeys to solve illogical puzzles and perplexing mysteries.
The cast also includes Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz, and Arash DeMaxi.
Arika Lisanne Mittman serves as showrunner and exec produces alongside Mark Goffman, Sam Baum and David Frankel. The show is based on Dan Ariely’s book, Predictably Irrational, and it is produced by Universal Television.
“These shows are a testament to the incredibly passionate work of our showrunners Nkechi Okoro Carroll and Arika Lisanne Mittman, both of whom have executed their visions flawlessly,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “A huge thank you to the talented cast, producers and crews for their tireless commitment and dedication, which has clearly paid off with audiences making these series must-see television on both NBC and next day on Peacock.”
