Found Recap: Sir’s New Reign of Terror Begins — Grade Season 2’s Premiere!

M&A was handed one of their most devastating missing person cases as NBC’s Found opened Season 2.

Picking up right where the Season 1 finale left off, Gabi was in panic mode, trying to check in on co-workers who were still stung by the reveal of her captive-Sir secret and thus not answering their phones.

Gabi managed to reach Dhan, who in turn alerted Margaret, who was at the bus station about to dive into a poisoned sammy. Dhan then raced to check on Zeke, finding him unconscious on the floor of his home, poisoned. After calling 9-1-1, Dhan accidentally jostled Zeke’s computer awake, to find an incomplete resignation letter on the screen.

Gabi rang Lacey’s phone off the hook (if we still use that phrase?) whilst speeding her car to Lacey’s home. There, Gabi found signs of a brutal, bloody, violent struggle — and Lacey missing.

Despite tensions/feelings of betrayal still thick in the air, everyone gathered at M&A to, in Gabi’s case, fear the worst, but also to start forming a plan. After getting read in on all of Gabi’s secrets, a shocked Trent was ready to cuff her and hail her into the station, but he agreed to give her 72 hours to work Lacey’s case.

To that end, Trent suggested he and Gabi work the crime scene — meaning, not Lacey’s already-CSI’d home, but Gabi’s basement, which she’d already scrubbed clean of all Sir evidence. But while down there, Gabi surmised that for Sir to target so many M&A peeps so quickly after escaping, he must have stolen a car.

Gabi’s next stop was an outdoor presser, where she spoke of Lacey’s case but most importantly intended to reach Sir — using quotes from one of the books she allowed him in his cell.

Meanwhile, Detective Shaker reported to Trent and Captain Mallory that she and her CSI discovered that Sir’s late mother had been stabbed to death, by one of her children, and the house fire was used to cover tracks.

A lead on the car that Sir stole leads Gabi & Co. to a trunk giving off a heat sig, though all they find inside is a mannequin strapped to hot water bottles, a sign that says “NOT YET,” and a copy of the novel Native Son.

Recovering/waking up at at the hospital, agoraphobic Zeke has a panic attack. Margaret convinced Zeke’s father to let them take him back home, to calm down. Once there, Zeke gets caught up on things and tells Dhan that Lacey “planned” for the day Sir finds and comes after her, and was well prepared with knives and ice picks hidden throughout her apartment. “She did not go quietly,” he insists.

Further regaining his bearings, Zeke reports in to M&A, where Gabi wonders aloud: Why was Dhan not targeted? Zeke quickly calls up Dhan’s husband Ethan’s credit card activity, and finds that Sir used a card to rent a vacation home. Sir is busy rewatching Gabi’s press conference on a phone when Trent & Co. arrive to storm the place, but he manages to elude their net.

Searching the house, what looks to be an “OK” is smudged onto a bathroom mirror, appearing when steamed. But when Zeke later serves up an AI recreation of Sir and Lacey’s probable scuffle, and Gabi clocks the “Dot and the Kangaroo” book that she and Bella shared back in the day, she realized that the message on the mirror was a dot and a “K” for kangaroo, meaning it’s from an alive-and-well Lacey.

Sir — who earlier tidied up and dyed his beard — relocates and ties back up a bloodied and bruised Lacey, who has come to realize that all those times over the years she felt the chill of him surveilling her, he in fact was! As an end to a means. “You have always been my key to Gabrielle,” he affirms.

Hellbent on locating lacey, Gabi pores over the copy of Native Son found in the stolen car’s trunk, realizing that a series of Roman numerals taped on assorted pages are in fact the number, for a pay phone. Gabi locates the pay phone in question, and waits for a call. She almost bails on this lead, when the phone finally rings.

“Hello, Gabrielle…,” says Sir on the other end.
