Gabrielle Union Goes Back to Her Natural Curls While Social Distancing

As the days of social distancing start to blend together, being stuck inside might inspire you to give yourself bangs, or play with temporary hair color. But for anyone who's not game to take their haircut or color into their own hands, isolation can also be an opportunity to give your hair a much-needed break. Just ask Gabrielle Union.

Over the weekend, Union posted a selfie video on Instagram to show her fans that she took out her long box braids and is now wearing her hair natural. In Union's post, she smiles as she touches and tugs at her soft short curls.

"When your natural locks appreciate the lock down. Unlocking the secret soon... ," Union wrote in the caption of her video set to the Leikeli47 song "Wash & Set." She also included the hashtags #InTheLab #QuarantineNaturalHairChronicles and #FrederickDouglassRealness.

Based on Union's caption, there may be something in the works from her haircare line, Flawless. On Apr. 5, the actress closed off the weekend by posting a cute photo of her and her 17-month-old daughter Kaavia James Union Wade's matching curls. In the adorable photo, Union is carrying Wade on her back, as the pair both smile from cheek to cheek.

"See @kaaviajames mama's got hair like yours!!," Union wrote. "When I took my braids out she was like now mom & baby both rocking their natural curls."

With everyone staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, at-home hair makeovers are on the rise. But instead of taking a risk that could end in a hair disaster, Union is hitting pause before moving on to the next hairstyle. By giving her natural texture some extra TLC, her curls are guaranteed to look even more gorgeous whenever she can hit the red carpet again.
