Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage slams Disney remake: 'F***ing backwards'

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has slammed Disney for remaking Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, labelling it as "f***ing backwards".

The 52-year-old shared his thoughts while appearing on WTF with Marc Maron.

"I’m just like, what are you doing?" Peter told Marc of the reboot.

The actor, who has achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism, believed Disney to be hypocritical after they shared they were "very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White". The remake is set to star Latina actress Rachel Zegler, 20.

Peter shared that he appreciated that the film was being inclusive in some ways, but couldn't understand how Disney could make a film that is insensitive towards dwarfs.

"You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f***ing backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f**k are you doing, man?" the Cyrano star said.

"Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox?"

He went on to say he'd only support the reboot if the creators put "the most f***ed up, cool or progressive spin on it".

The actor has always been careful when it comes to choosing roles and never taking those that perpetuate dwarf stereotypes in Hollywood films.

In 2012, he shared that he believed dwarfs are the "butt of jokes" due to the media and, in part, due to actors who are dwarves choosing the wrong roles.

"You can say no," he told The New York Times Magazine. "You can not be the object of ridicule."

Disney has attempted to set the record straight with a statement to the Hollywood Reporter: "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period."
