Everyone knows that creepy Elf on the Shelf is a terrifying way to get children to behave in the run-up to December 25, but what about if Game of Thrones released its own bloodthirsty alternative?

Enter Lannister on a Bannister - the brainchild of Jimmy Kimmel and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - and this Christmas' must-have addition to every household.

The jokes soon came flying when Coster-Waldau appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to take part in a spoof toy commercial for Lannister on a Bannister (below).

Sticking the Thrones actor in an adorable elf outfit, the Kingslayer had some stern words for any misbehaving children who might be watching.

Viewers are reminded "nothing gets by the Kingslayer's watchful eye," before Jaime Lannister himself warns "you steal that candy and I'll chop your hand off - like this!" as he waves his own bloodied stump.

Apparently, not here for your milk and cookies, you should be keeping your Lannister on the Bannister satisfied with a warm leg of mutton - sadly an added extra with the price.

Jaime also regales naughty children with the stoic tale of the family Stark and the infamous Red Wedding.

Talking of that doomed family, what about other options for Thrones on the [BLANK]? If you can get Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, there could be a whole line of potential money-spinning toys to line George R.R. Martin's pockets further.

There could be Stark in the Park, Frey on the Tray, or how about Greyjoy on the Sleigh(joy)?

Sadly, batteries not included and also these aren't available in toy stores. Probably a good idea, because imagine finding a pint-sized Cersei doll in your stocking? It's enough to scare even the White Walkers.

In the meantime, you'd better go back and watch your old episodes of Game of Thrones, because season 8 won't be back on our screens until 2019.
