Gigi Hadid has shared the first photo of herself since becoming a new mother, returning to social media for an important reason.

Though Hadid has been on Instagram to announce the birth of her daughter in September - her first child with boyfriend Zayn Malik - and to wish her younger sister Bella Hadid a happy birthday, this is the first time the model has shared a photo of herself since becoming a mother.

Wearing a colourful t-shirt that spelled out 'VOTE', Hadid shared a mirror selfie saying she had already cast her vote early for the US presidential election, which she did with her baby girl next to her.

'I voted absentee last week with my daughter next to me,' Hadid explained. 'For an America I want her to see; but not just for us - for fellow Americans that are less privileged, with hope for a nation that is unified, that is empathetic and for a leader that is compassionate.'

Hadid wrote that she is proud of all her young followers who have already voted early, voted via postal vote or plan to do so on election day, November 3 before sharing assets directing her followers on how they can vote early depending on which state they live in.

Largely keeping out of the photos herself, Hadid has shared photos of gifts from her famous friends to congratulate Gigi and Zayn on their baby. Queer Eye's Tan France sent a babygrow emblazoned with 'Zigi' - the 'couple name' for the former One Directioner and runway model - while Taylor Swift sent an embroidered blanket and Donatella Versace sent an adorable Versace sweatshirt.
