Glasgow city centre street shut by police after woman hit by car

Police have locked down a Glasgow street after a woman was struck by a car.

Emergency crews were alerted to the incident in the city centre at around 2.40pm on Tuesday.

Police Scotland said the woman was hit on Wellington Lane. The street has been taped off, as has part of Wellington Street.

A force spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

A number of emergency vehicles are currently at the scene, including police cars and fire engines.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it dispatched an ambulance, paramedic response unit, and trauma team after the alarm was raised.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson said: "We are currently in attendance alongside emergency service partners at an incident on Wellington Lane, Glasgow."

Road closures have been put in place on Wellington Street between Cadogan Street and Waterloo Street.

Wellington Lane has also been closed between Wellington Street and West Campbell Street.

Drivers are being urged to use an alternative route.
