Gogglebox’s Pete Sandiford has become a dad for the first time.

The TV star confirmed at the National Television Awards that he and his fiancée Paige Yeomans welcomed a baby boy this year.

"He's a cool little lad, takes after his mum not me!" he told the Mirror.

He said of fatherhood: “It's a bit overwhelming, got it all going on at the moment!"

Pete, 26, had revealed he was going to be a dad during an episode of Gogglebox earlier this year.

The TV star showed his sister Sophie – who appears with him on the Channel 4 show – a scan picture, saying: "Isn’t it mad? I am actually going to be a dad to somebody."

He later amused fans when he posted a picture of the scan on Instagram with an image of his face stuck on it.

“I do have a hunch the baby might look like me....” he quipped.

As well as caring for his new son, Pete has a new series of Gogglebox coming up.

Channel 4 has not confirmed when the much-loved programme is returning but it’s thought to be this autumn.

Cast members Jenny Newby and Lee Riley also fuelled speculation it is coming soon with a recent post on Instagram.

Sharing a snap of Riley blowing out candles on his birthday cake, Newby wrote: “Have a wonderful last few days in Cyprus see you Friday for filming.”
