Why is Susanna Reid not on Good Morning Britain?
Fans of ITV's breakfast news show saw host Susanna Reid's last appearance for quite some time on Wednesday morning.
The anchor, sitting alongside co-host Ed Balls, revealed: "I am off on holiday - today is my last day for the summer."
She added to viewers: "I leave you in the capable hands of this team for the entire summer."
Reid usually takes a six-week break over the summer, which is not unusual for ITV's daytime stars - Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are also currently on their summer holidays from This Morning with a rotating schedule of guest presenters replacing them.
However, this year Reid is extending her summer holiday to eight weeks.
When will Susanna Reid return to Good Morning Britain?
Reid's last Good Morning Britain appearance was on Wednesday, 13 July and she is expected to be off for eight weeks.
That would mean viewers can look forward to seeing her back on air sometime around the week beginning 5 September.
She is the lead presenter on the show from Monday to Thursday, but doesn't work on Fridays.
Who will replace Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain over the summer?
As she announced the beginning of her summer holidays, Reid said that the rest of the team would still be around over the coming weeks.
However, none of them cover quite so many shows as Reid, who hosts alongside a rotating schedule of guest presenters from Monday to Wednesday and with Ben Shephard on Thursdays.
Reid's first Thursday off was covered by show regular Ranvir Singh, and the GMB presenting team also includes Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins.
Since Piers Morgan's departure after an on-air spat about Meghan Markle in March 2021, Reid's co-host has changed many times with a series of guest presenters.
It was thought that Richard Madeley might take on the role full time, but he has hosted sporadically and is currently on his own summer break.
He said: "I've got quite a big break in the summer; I'm going to France and then I'll be back quite a lot in the autumn."
Other presenters who have sat alongside Reid include Adil Ray, Ed Balls, Martin Lewis, Bill Turnbull, Alastair Campbell, Rob Rinder and Richard Bacon.
