Gossip: Tottenham 'want £200m for Kane', Ronaldo 'wants Rashford at Real', Man City 'chase Weigl'

Kane ‘worth £200m’, Rashford ‘ideal for Real’, Weigl ‘ a City target’

Tonight, Real Madrid fans will finally get to see in the flesh the man they have been linked with constantly for the past month. The man the Spanish have dubbed “El Chingfordo Raul” (probably) will step out at the Bernabeu – and the home fans will be expecting to see a £200m player. Because that, according to the Times, is the valuation Tottenham have placed on Harry Kane.

Actually that’s not strictly accurate. To quote the Times directly, Spurs believe Kane is worth “more than £200m”. More than Bale. More than Neymar. More than everyone who has ever lived. So no pressure tonight, Hazza.

The broadsheet describes this mega price tag as the “strongest indication yet of Tottenham’s determination to hold on to their striker”, as opposed to them thinking they might actually get that amount of money for him.

But that’s too boring for the Mirror, which claims Zinedine Zidane’s description of Kane as “the complete forward” is further proof that the European champions will launch a £150m summer raid for Kane and has left Spurs “increasingly concerned”.

Of course, if Tottenham get spanked 4-0 like they did on their last Champions League visit to Madrid and Kane doesn’t get a kick all night, then Real might decide they could probably do without him after all.

Ronaldo wants Rashford as Kane back-up

In which case, they might try to sign Marcus Rashford instead. The Star says the Manchester United forward is the latest player on the transfer wish list of Cristiano Ronaldo, who seems to be “recommending” different signings to the Real hierarchy on a weekly basis.

CR7 apparently thinks Rashford would be an ideal back-up option if Zidane fails to lure Kane to the Bernabeu. This may just be a phase though – Cristiano has probably just been playing a lot of Championship Manager lately.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has identified the “new Sergio Busquets” he wants to run Manchester City’s midfield for years to come, with the Mail reporting that 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund star Julian Weigl will be one of Pep’s top summer targets.

The only problem is that Barcelona think Weigl would be the perfect replacement for the old Sergio Busquets and are set to rival City for his signature.

Pep may have better luck trying to sign Edinson Cavani, who the Manchester Evening News says has “chosen” City as his preferred destination after his bust-up with Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Neymar. The problem here is that Guardiola has not shown any interest in Cavani. Oh well.

Elsewhere, Barca are targeting Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso as a long-term replacement for Jordi Alba (Mail), Tottenham will rival Newcastle and Crystal Palace for £15m-rated Besiktas stirker Cenk Tosun (Star) and Mesut Ozil is “edging closer to an Arsenal exit” with the Gunners “ready to try to find a January buyer” for the German playmaker (Mirror). In other words, they literally can’t give him away.
