Great British Bake-Off winner Candice Brown and her husband Liam Macauley have split after two years of marriage, multiple outlets are reporting.

The couple married in 2018, a few years after she won the seventh "series" of the show, known as The Great British Baking Show in the U.S., in 2016. Her agent confirmed the split to The Mirror, saying that they broke up earlier this year. Candice has remained fairly mum on the split herself, simply tweeting "Think I’m going to eat a lot of biscuits today," as reports of their break-up hit the press.

However, Liam, who is a tree surgeon, confirmed the split to The Daily Mail this week, saying that there was no one else "involved" in their break-up. "We have just sadly decided it wasn't working," he told the outlet.

But he went on to mention that a photo of Great British Baking Show host Paul Hollywood kissing Candice on the cheek after a night out surfaced shortly after they were engaged in 2017 and put a strain on their relationship.

"I'd not long asked Candice to marry me and I had to read reports that my new fiancée was seen kissing Hollywood and getting close to him," he said: "That was just a kiss on her cheek and there was nothing else to it. But we had only been engaged a few days. It was a lot to have to deal with."

The photos were reported on at the time after they were published in The Sun, and Candice laughed it off, tagging multiple friends who were there with them, and joking that they were all no longer allowed to hug or kiss hello in tweets posted by Yahoo News UK.

Despite bringing up this moment in their past, Liam said he has nothing but respect for Candice. "My wife is a lovely woman and a wonderful human being and I could never find anything detrimental to say about her," he told The Daily Mail in a recent interview.
