A Guelph woman has been charged for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident after a 10-year-old boy was struck by a van crossing an intersection.

It happened Tuesday at around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Eramosa Road and Victoria Road North.

Police say a witness saw the boy crossing the street on his scooter when he was struck by a van trying to make a turn. The driver of the van did not stop, but police say the person contacted police after seeing a post about the incident on social media.

The boy had minor injuries, police say.

A 46-year-old woman has been charged with failing to stop at a collision. She will appear in court Sept. 17.
