Hailsham: Murder investigation after hit-and-run
A murder investigation has been launched after a hit-and-run in Sussex.
Officers were called to Diplocks Walk, Hailsham, at 23:00 GMT on Saturday after a black vehicle collided with a pedestrian.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene, and his next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers, Sussex Police said.
Officers are still searching for the vehicle and suspect involved.
Det Ch Insp Andy Harbour said: "This is a fast-moving investigation and we are working around the clock to establish exactly what happened.
"There were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident, and I am urging anyone with any information to please come forward."
The force is specifically interested in seeing any CCTV or dashcam footage.
A large police presence is expected in the area as enquiries continue.
