The Great British Bake Off is back, and we couldn't be happier to see Paul, Prue, Noel, newcomer Matt Lucas and 12 hopeful bakers gracing the tent once again. Last night's episode was big; it was biscuit week and there were despondent faces staring into ovens, a shocking innuendo from Prue and biscuits that most certainly did not snap. But the biggest drama was among the viewers who were not happy about who was sent home at the end of the show. Spoilers below.

The second week of the series was biscuit week, so the show began with contestants making chocolate florentines for the signature round followed by coconut macaroons flavoured with chocolate and mango for the technical and lastly for the showstopper they had to make "a 3D biscuit table setting from a memorable meal you once had," err... whatever that means.

But the drama really began at the end of the episode, when Matt Lucas announced that Mak would be the latest contestant to leave the tent, despite many viewers feeling that Rowan should have been sent home instead.

Neither Mak nor Rowan did well in biscuit week, but viewers were shocked that Rowan remained on the show after having a three-round shocker, in which Prue described his technical bakes as "peculiar," and Paul said his showstopper "tastes like rubber".

Meanwhile, though Mak didn't have the best week either, he did show up in a very stylish polar neck and came third in the technical, so the controversy isn't surprising.

While it should be stressed that Rowan and his waistcoats is something we will all always want on our TV's, even he seemed surprised at the result, and fans were quick to take to Twitter to express their disbelief.

What's Bake Off without a little biscuit-based drama, eh?
