Hidden camera catches abusive nanny

A mother has come home to every parent’s worst nightmare after she set up a hidden home camera to monitor her nanny.

Annemarie Theron started becoming suspicious of her nanny after noticing some bruises on her nine-month-old daughter Laila.

It started out as just a little bruising on the child’s feet, but when Annemarie found them on Laila’s shoulders and neck, she became concerned.

The nanny had been recommended to them by a family friend who had employed her to raise her own children, so it wasn’t until Annemarie’s husband noticed that Laila seemed afraid in the nanny’s presence that they decided to take action.

Shockingly, the very day that Annemarie set up the hidden camera, she watched as the nanny held Laila by one arm and violently tossed her face-first into her crib.

The nanny has since been arrested and charged with child abuse and attempted murder, and while Laila hasn’t been injured, Annemarie is still haunted by what happened.

“It was very emotional watching it. I refused to sleep, eat or drink for a couple of days afterward,” Annemarie, who lives in Namibia, told Netwek24.

“It’s difficult to imagine how long this has been going on for. I can see Laila is so, so broken after everything.”

After posting the camera footage on Facebook, Annemarie wrote, “My precious baby Laila Danae please know we love you endlessly and we are SO SO sorry for what you have been through!!”

“We thank the Lord for His protection and faithfulness, that you are still alive and still such a shining ray of light to so many people - you are so loved!!”
