A rare behind-the-scenes look at a royal photoshoot has revealed an unexpected detail that has left fans stunned.
Country Life magazine in the UK has featured future Queen and Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles on the cover of its latest issue, however, a rare glimpse into what went into capturing the photo showed it was taken by Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.
A photo shared on Twitter by Country Life shows Camilla standing in the garden of Ray Mill House wearing a blue dress and cardigan.
Taking a break from posing in front of the camera, Kate is seen bending down in a casual pair of jeans, white sneakers and a salmon-coloured blazer while holding a camera and snapping a shot of Camilla.
Country Life editor Mark Hedges told The Telegraph Kate took the photos at Camilla's request.
While discussing a photographer for the shoot, Camilla said, "Oh I'd quite like Catherine to do it".
"I spent the next three or four minutes desperately racking my brains trying to think of a professional photographer called Catherine," he said.
"Then I suddenly grasped what she meant – one of the most amazing things that could happen.
"I don't think anyone else would have made her feel so relaxed.
"They didn't bother too much with hair and make-up, they just got some flowers from the garden and got on with it."
When revealing the cover on its website, Country Life’s Managing and Features Editor, Paula Lester, said the Duchess of Cambridge took her commission "very seriously" and was "very professional".
"She phoned me to discuss our requirements for the cover and subsequently composed a range of beautifully shot images," she said.
Mark added Camilla was "captured so magnificently" by her daughter-in-law.
"We understand this is the first time a formal portrait of The Duchess of Cornwall has been taken by The Duchess of Cambridge for a magazine and we are honoured to have been chosen to be the first to publish this beautiful image," he said.
One royal fan on Twitter said the photoshoot was "charming".
"Am sure that Camilla felt more relaxed with Catherine taking her photographs. And Catherine can be trusted to do her best to make Camilla look at her best," they added.
"And this is the way ... Two women perfectly comfortable with each other," another said.
"Such a wonderful surprise! I absolutely love that The Duchess of Cornwall wanted our Duchess of Cambridge to take her pictures ... she knows Catherine is a very talented photographer and they have a great relationship so it's just beautiful that the two Duchesses teamed up," a third added.
