A frustrated Joel reacts angrily at the flirtation being called out, warning Goldie that nothing romantic can ever happen between them and sending her off in tears.

Joel instantly feels bad about what he's done, but when he later drops by the McQueen house to apologise, passion takes hold as the two end up kissing!

The priest shares his moral dilemma with Goldie, admitting that he can't give up his vows. However, the two eventually come up with an unexpected compromise in order to explore their feelings further…

Chelsee Healey had previously hinted that a new romance was being lined up for Goldie that would likely take viewers completely by surprise.

"We've only just started filming together and I've been sworn to secrecy over his identity as viewers won't see it on screen until the summer," she revealed in May.

"But I was very happy when I found out who it was."

She also teased: "[I] can't wait to see how [fans] react. It will cause a little bit of a stir but it wouldn't be Goldie if it didn't."

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
