Former Hollyoaks star James Sutton has revealed that he wanted to bring his Chester alter ego to Neighbours.

The actor, who played John Paul McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, recently revealed that he almost crossed over into the Australian soap but alas, it wasn't to be.

Although, not for lack of trying.

"I was in Australia on holiday last year and actually rang Neighbours to see if I could be in the background of a couple of scenes," James admitted to What's On TV.

"John Paul in Erinsborough. It didn't happen in the end, unfortunately."

John Paul first appeared on Hollyoaks in 2006, taking part in the show's first ever gay romance opposite Craig (Guy Burnet).

After leaving the soap in 2008, he returned in 2012 until leaving once more last year to reunite with Craig in Singapore.

Singapore isn't that far away from Australia, right? We're still very much up for a John Paul McQueen cameo on Ramsay Street.

We mean, if Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas can do it...

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 and E4. Neighbours airs weekdays on Channel 5.
