Influencer's instant regret after noticing incredibly dodgy AirBnb detail

Sonja thought she'd booked an incredible Airbnb with ocean views, but the reality couldn't have been further from the truth.

An influencer who thought she'd booked a room at a scenic holiday hotspot with "beautiful seaside views" was delivered a rude surprise after arriving at her Airbnb, instantly realising after pulling back the curtains that she had been "screwed so hard".

Sonja Dennig booked accommodation in Westerland in Germany on the pristine island of Sylt, for a weekend away late last month.

She said she was promised an ocean-side suite with incredible views from the bedroom. But after arriving, she found that not only were her expectations not met, the "views" were in fact a poster hung over a basement window.

The 28-year-old took to social media to share the bizarre setup, which she said left her feeling duped and "catfished". "We were looking forward to discovering this beautiful view," Dennig said, according to a translation in European media.

"We thought: 'Wow, what a great view we have,' but look, it’s just a photo. We’re just in the basement."

In Dennig's video, the social media personality is seen touring around a modest holiday apartment. All appears to be well until she walks closer towards a window, when it becomes apparent the view outside is in fact just a large print, topped off with artificial lighting in place to replicate the sun.

From a distance, you could be forgiven for mistaking the poster as a genuine view, but a closer look reveals the host's scam. "You’re in bed, it’s midnight, but you think it’s either evening or morning sun. It’s pretty amazing," Dennig said in a supporting video.

Online, people were both impressed and outraged by the hilarious stitch-up.

"The most amazing thing is that the picture looks totally real," one person said.

"This has such dollhouse vibes," said another.
