James Middleton and Alizee Thevenet chose a name with (fictional!) royal ties for their son.

On Friday, Kate Middleton's brother shared the first images of his baby boy on Instagram. The post also revealed the name of their new addition: Inigo.

"He has been in our lives for just a few weeks, but they have been the most special of my life getting to know our beautiful baby boy," the new dad wrote on the social media post. "No matter how prepared I thought I was…I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of meeting Inigo for the first time and the love for my darling Alizée as we became three."

According to NameBerry, Inigo is of Spanish/Basque origin and means "fiery."

The site adds, "Inigo, almost unknown in the U.S., is an intriguing choice, with its strong beat, creative and evocative sound and associations with the great early British architect and stage designer Inigo Jones. The sixteenth-seventeenth century Jones shared his name with his father, a London clockmaker, who received it when Spanish names for boys were fashionable in England, especially among devout Roman Catholics."

Many might recognize the name from The Princess Bride, William Goldman's 1973 novel that inspired a popular 1987 film adaptation. The character of Inigo Montoya — famous for the line, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" — was played by Mandy Patinkin in the movie.

The official announcement of his son's arrival came after photos showed James and Alizee pushing a stroller in the Notting Hill neighborhood of London.

As James is a known dog lover, it was no surprise that his pets played a part in the baby's first photos.

"The dogs have been fantastic at welcoming their little brother into the pack (although Inka needs to know the teddybears are not all for her…)," James revealed of their six pets: Mabel, Zulu, Inka, Luna, Nala and Isla.

The first photo in the Instagram carousel featured a pin (which he wore to King Charles' coronation earlier this year) showing James' beloved dog Ella, who died early this year. James credited his pup with introducing him to his wife, sharing in a 2019 piece for The Telegraph that he met Alizee because his cocker spaniel “made a beeline” for the French financial analyst at an event.

"We have settled into our new life as parents, and I’ve told him all about Ella and that if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be here today and that we miss her greatly," James wrote.

After meeting in 2018, James and Alizee got engaged a year later and wed in France in September 2021 after their original wedding date was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple announced over the summer that they were expecting their first child.
