Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Her Kids Call Her by Her First Name: ‘I Take It as a Compliment’
Pierce Bush jokingly called the confession, "something to unpack"
Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush had a good laugh while talking about names.
The Today with Hoda & Jenna co-host, 41, informed her twin sister that the name Barbara is "making a comeback."
"How does that feel, sissy?" she asked her.
"It feels good! Most of my life there were articles that said Barbara was going extinct. It was on the list of names going extinct. So I’m glad we’re back, but I question the research cause I’ve yet to meet a baby or a child named Barbara," Pierce Bush, who shares daughter Cora Georgia, 2, with husband Craig Coyne, laughed.
Barbara then joked, "I’ve noticed in the parks in Brooklyn where sort of old is new, there’s a lot of Maeves. There’s some Doloreses. I’ve heard a lot of ‘Come on Dolores.’ I haven’t heard ‘Come on Barbara,' ever."
"Well, unless it’s your husband or your child," Bush Hager noted.

"Yes, and she doesn’t call me Barbara," she countered, at which point Bush Hager revealed, "My children call me Jenna."
"That's something for you to unpack with them," Barbara replied.
"It is something for me to unpack with them," she laughed. "In fact, when we FaceTimed Hal from our Book Tour, he goes, ‘Hello, Jenna! Hello, Jenna!’"
Laughing, the host explained she "takes [it] as a compliment because it is my name."
Bush Hager shares Hal, 4, Poppy, 8, and Mila, 10, with husband Henry Hager. Speaking with PEOPLE about her partnership with Kendra Scott for a special event at P.S. 108K The Sal Abbracciamento School to unveil its first Little Yellow Library earlier this month, the children's author opened up about sharing childhood favorites of her own with her kids.
Bush Hager was recently touched by sharing Charlotte's Web with her girls.
"I read it to both Mila and Poppy, and it's just so beautiful. I recommend that every parent read that book to their children because it's about the seasons changing, about friendship, about life and death. It's so poetic and kind of heartbreaking and one I'm glad we've carried on."
"It's just so amazing to me how The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Good Night, Moon hold up," she noted. "They're classics for a reason. Kids are obsessed with them."
Aside from sharing books, Bush Hager also loves sharing the spirit of giving back with her family.
"I think it's important to show it. We've realized that it wasn't like my parents taught us, 'Now we're going to give back.' They modeled it for us," Bush Hager shared. "My dad worked with Habitat for Humanity on the weekends. It was something we witnessed them do as an integrated part of their lives, not an appendix to what else they do. It's part of how they live, and so I think Henry and I try to do the same."
She continued, "We also definitely try to find ways to do things as a family throughout the year where our kids can be part of it and see it as a lifestyle rather than a lesson."
