Melissa Etheridge says Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt "can get through anything" in a new interview. The US singer-songwriter performed at their wedding in 2000 in what she called "the glory days".

During a virtual episode of Watch What Happens Live, Etheridge was asked by a fan what she thought of the hysteria that followed their reunion at the 2020 SAG Awards. The former couple were pictured congratulating one other backstage at the ceremony after their respective wins.

"Oh, you know what? I loved Brad and Jen together, they were beautiful," said Etheridge. "I believe they will always remain friends because they're two very special people that can get through anything. I just hope that their friendship lasts.

"Of course we would always... those were the glory days. I remember those days."

Etheridge has previously defended Pitt as a father, seemingly criticising Angelina Jolie's candid 2016 interview when she talked about aspects of their marriage breakdown.

"It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it's being done," said Etheridge also during a visit to Watch What Happens Live.

"I've gone through family courts. I've been twice around this block, and I know it really well, and I know when there's some forethought to just how mean and just how you're going to put disinformation out there first."
