Jetstar's subtle jab at model who held up flight for oyster dinner

Jetstar has subtly hit back at the influencer who held up a flight from Ballina airport to Sydney last week with an Instagram post.

The flight Ruby Tuesday Matthews was catching was delayed due to a technical issue and while the airline asked passengers to stay at the airport while waiting on the engineer, she instead left for an oyster dinner with a friend.

Because the 27-year-old wasn't at the airport, she didn't realise the plane was ready to take off ahead of the expected delay and held the plane up for another 30 minutes.

Ruby slammed Jetstar for allowing other passengers to bully her for the delay by jeering and making remarks when she walked onto the plane.

The airline, however, defended the response to the situation in a statement.

"We apologise to customers for the delay to the service and thank them for their patience as our team worked to get the flight away as quickly as possible," a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

"We kept customers informed during this time, asking them not to leave the airport should the flight be able to get away ahead of the revised time."

The airline then shared a photo on Instagram of podcaster Sarah Davidson holding an oyster with her husband Nic Davidson with the caption talking about the Tasmanian borders opening to some states.

One user found the photo very entertaining and wrote: "Hahhahaha... the oyster shot. Love it hahaha."

Ruby claims she didn't hear the airline instructing passengers to stay in the airport and later received a call from Jetstar saying the flight was ready to leave.

In a video shared by Daily Mail, passengers are heard heckling the mum-of-two as she finally boarded the plane.

One person can be heard saying: "How were the oysters?"

After touching down in Sydney, Ruby slammed Jetstar and told her fellow passengers to "grow up".

"I had a pretty traumatic flight experience, thanks Jetstar, you never cease to amaze me," she said.

"I'm sorry but it really was not my fault... we were told it was going to be taking off at 7.45pm, I had not eaten since my smoothie that morning because I had been in back-to-back meetings.

"I was like 'f**k this, I'm going to get food out of the airport, it's two hours until our flight takes off, I'm going to go.'"

She went on to explain she hadn’t heard the announcement asking them not to leave the airport, and was under the impression she had more than two hours before she would be required to board.

"I didn't hear that, I swear to god, I wouldn't have left the airport, I'm not a d***head, I do have respect for everyone else."

She continued: "I was basically bullied by about seven to 10 to 14 people at different times, then they made comments about my children. No Jetstar staff stopped this at any time. I copped it hard for about 15 minutes.

"I was scared for myself because number one, I was by myself...number two, no one else who was later than me copped any abuse, it was just me alone."

Ruby later claimed the staff went through her phone when she tried to complain to make sure she didn't film them.

When it came time to fly home, the model ensured she wasn't flying with Jetstar by sharing a snap of herself outside the airport with the caption, "Smiling because we aren't flying S**TSTAR @jetstaraustralia."

She was then forced to turn off comments after being bombarded with people slamming her.
