Julianna Margulies' Dietland dropped after one season

AMC has cancelled Dietland after just one season.

The show stars The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies alongside Joy Nash and is based on Sarai Walker's 2015 novel of the same name.

"Dietland is bold, original and brave," AMC said in a statement (via Deadline). "We are beyond proud of our partnership with Marti Noxon, Joy Nash, Juliana Margulies, Skydance and everyone else involved in bringing Sarai Walker's story to the screen.

"Similarly, Aisha Tyler and our friends at Embassy Row delivered a unique companion show that led with fresh voices and important topics.

"Dietland garnered critical acclaim and passionate fans but unfortunately we will not be able to continue with a second season," the statement added.

The show's first season averaged 203k adults aged 18-49 in live+3 ratings. It started with 262k in adults aged 18-49 for the premiere, falling to 158k in adults aged 18-49 for the finale.

The series followed the adventures of an advice letter ghostwriter called Plum Kettle (Joy Nash) who ghostwrites an advice column for Kitty Montgomery (Julianna Margulies), the editor of New York teen magazine Daisy Chain.

Plum is recruited by a secret political movement who may or may not have ties with a vigilante feminist movement called Jennifer – whose guerrilla tactics include throwing rapists from varying heights to their deaths.

Dietland aired on AMC in the US and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
